AN EXPERIENCED AND DYNANIC RESEARCH TEAM!

The Marguerite-d'Youville Research Chair has been gradually building its research team since its inception. Several research professionals have brought extensive clinical experience with seniors and caregivers as well as deep research expertise to the team. It gives us great pleasure to introduce them to you.

Louise Allard has a PhD. in psychology from the Université de Montréeal and she completed two post-doctoral internships. She has several years of experience in research teams, notably as scientific coordinator at the Center de recherche du Center hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM). She joined the Chair team in 2022 as a research professional.

Danielle Bellemare is a Registered Nurse with a Master's degree in Nursing from Université de Montréal as well as a Master's degree in Public Administration from École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP). Her career has included many years working in clinical and administrative settings, both in the health network and in the professional system. Danielle Bellemare’s interests include the quality of life of seniors and their loved ones and the care provided to them. She has served as a research professional with the Chair since its inception.

Louise Francoeur est infirmière, détentrice d’une maîtrise en sciences infirmières et d’un diplôme d’études spécialisées en bioéthique. Elle a pratiqué plus de 25 ans auprès des personnes âgées et leurs proches à l’Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal. Elle a aussi travaillé à titre de professeure de formation pratique à la Faculté des sciences infirmières de l’Université de Montréal. Ces dernières années, elle s’est jointe au milieu communautaire, dont l’Association québécoise des personnes aphasiques (AQPA), à titre d’infirmière consultante, et au conseil d’administration de la Société des soins palliatifs à domicile du Grand Montréal (SSPAD). Elle agit à titre de professionnelle de recherche au sein de l’équipe de la Chaire Marguerite-d’Youville depuis janvier 2025.

Alizée Lajeunesse holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. Having studied at the University of French Polynesia, she is now a PhD candidate in medical anthropology at the University of Montreal, where she works on sociocultural and ethical aspects of aging and care. Through her doctoral research, Alizée is conducting an ethnography of long-term care institutions, focusing on the lived experiences of residents, healthcare professionals and family caregivers. More specifically, she is interested in organizational, relational and ethical issues shaping care and end-of-life dynamics and practices. She has several years of experience within research teams, having previously worked on rehabilitation care, pediatric palliative care and psychosocial development, pandemic ethics and older adults, and healthcare access inequalities for migrant communities. She joined the Chair in 2023 as a research professional.

Audrey Lavoie is a Registered Nurse with a Master's degree in Nursing from Université de Montréal. She has clinical experience in care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients. Currently in a doctoral program, Audrey Lavoie’s research interests involve the development and evaluation of nursing interventions adapted to the needs of seniors living with chronic diseases, with the goal of promoting health through lifestyle changes. She joined the Chair's team as a research professional in 2018.

Odette Perreault holds a Master's degree in Nursing from Université de Montréal and a Master's degree in Public Administration from École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP). For many years she worked in community health and as a nursing and service manager in various settings in the health network. Odette Perreault participated in the creation of the cancer centre at the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) as well as its interdisciplinary teams. Her interests include quality of care and services, professional development, and the development of nursing practices. Odette Perreault has served as the Chair’s coordinator since its inception.

Isabelle Reid détient un baccalauréat et une maîtrise en nutrition de l’Université de Montréal. Elle est membre de l’Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec. Elle détient plusieurs années d’expérience en coordination de projets au sein de diverses équipes de recherche du Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal ainsi que du Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement de Sherbrooke. Elle a notamment travaillé auprès des personnes aînées présentant des troubles de la cognition, en compagnie de leur proche aidant, sur des stratégies d'interventions nutritionnelles afin de préserver leur statut nutritionnel, leur autonomie et leur qualité de vie. Au fil des années, elle a contribué au transfert de connaissances issues des travaux de recherche et à l’implantation d’innovation portant sur l’alimentation des aînées, la nutrition gériatrique ainsi que sur la saine gestion des médicaments. Elle s’est jointe à l’équipe de la Chaire en tant que professionnelle de recherche en janvier 2025.

Philip Remus Vraciu est étudiant au baccalauréat en sciences infirmières à l’Université de Montréal. Étudiant assidu, il a fait bon nombre d’activités de bénévolat auprès des personnes âgées. Ses intérêts pour les interventions humanistes auprès des personnes âgées et l’accompagnement de leurs proches aidants dans les soins sont manifestes. Il s’est joint à l’équipe de la Chaire en 2023 en tant qu’auxiliaire de recherche.

Stéphanie Thibodeau holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology (with a major in Research) and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in School and Social Adjustment. Ms. Thibodeau has also worked with vulnerable clienteles, including adults living with an autism spectrum disorder and others with an intellectual disability. She has worked as a teacher in remedial education with students who have learning difficulties and as an educational consultant with a school team. In June 2023, Ms. Thibodeau joined the team at the Marguerite-d'Youville Chair as a research professional.

Independent researcher, she has worked in a variety of settings, and her interests are focused on the development of nursing practices and the quality of care provided to individuals and their families. She joined the Chair’s team as a research professional in 2018.
